I. Definition of Full-Tab
A full-tab battery, also known as a tabless battery, is a structural innovation in cylindrical lithium-ion batteries: the entire edge of the positive and negative current collectors (aluminum/copper foil) is used as a conductive tab, instead of the traditional 1-2 individual metal tabs.

- Traditional single-tab: Only one point contact, long current path, high internal resistance, and high heat generation.
- Full-tab: 360° annular surface contact, current flows directly from all points on the electrode to the end face, resulting in an extremely short path.
II. Core Advantages
1. Significantly Reduced Internal Resistance (≈50%–80%) - Traditional 18650: Internal resistance approximately 20–50 mΩ; full-tab can reduce it to below 5 mΩ.
- Lower internal resistance results in less heat generation, higher efficiency, and a 50%+ reduction in temperature rise under high load.
2. Doubled Charge/Discharge Rate (Maximum Power) - Discharge: Traditional 18650 ≈ 10–20A; All-tab 18650 can achieve 60A continuous discharge and 120A pulse discharge.
- Charging: Traditional ≈ 1C; All-tab supports 2C fast charging, reaching 80% in 10 minutes.
3. Longer Cycle Life and Better Low-Temperature Performance - Cycle life increased by 50%–60% (e.g., from 500 cycles → 800 cycles).
- Higher discharge retention rate at low temperatures (-20℃/-40℃), suitable for extremely cold environments.
